We recommend arriving at least 2 days prior to the wedding. This will give you ample time to acclimate to the time change.
Do I need a passport?
Yes. Scotland is an international destination and you will need a passport to enter the country. If you do not have a passport or need to renew one please visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html
Also, please check that the expiration date of your passport is greater than 6 months from your stay in Scotland.
Is Edinburgh the only airport I can fly into?
No. Other airports you can fly into are Glascow, London, Paris or Ireland. From these points you can take a connecting flight or a train.
Should I rent a car?
It is up to you. Remember that in the UK the steering wheel is on the other side of the vehicle and you must drive on the opposite. side of the road.
Public transit in Scotland and all of the UK is easily accessible and affordable to use.

If you are more adventurous the entire country of Scotland is easily accessible from Edinburgh and day trips to Inverness, The Isle of Sky and many of the local Lochs can be arranged.
Can I wear a Kilt?
Sure! We'd be happy to see you in a kilt.
I really want to celebrate with you but am not able to make it to Scotland.
That is ok. We will miss having you but completely understand if an international trip is just not in cards. We will be hosting a "Celebration of Elopement" in The United States in October 2024 and would love to see you there.
What will the weather be in Edinburgh?
Typically the weather in June is much more mild than in the United States. Average temperatures in June are 65 degrees and a typical rage could be expected between 55 -75 degrees.
Scotland is also known for rain, however June-August is considered the "Dry" season.
Will the wedding be inside or outside
The ceremony and tea will be held inside.
Do I have to bring a Gift?
We are beyond ecstatic that you have decided to join us for our big day in Edinburgh. Your presence is a perfect gift for us. If you feel you would like to give a gift please choose something off the registry that can be delivered to us in the states. Anything given to us in Scotland will need to go through Customs which can be an ordeal.
