Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island is about 30 minutes from the wedding venue.


This quaint historical island is known for being an exclusive hunting club for families with names like Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt, Pulitzer, and Baker in the late 1800s.


This cozy island is known for it's nature and history.


Things to do:

1. Rent bikes + bike the island

2. Explore the Millionaires Club

3. Visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (ask Chris about his Jekyll Island sea turtle story)

4. Drive thru the Christmas light display. THIS IS A MUST even if you don't stay on the island. Jekyll puts on a million Christmas light show around the island. It's a Chris + Summer favorite

5. Visit Driftwood Beach: a famous beach full of, you guessed it, driftwood

6. Play a round of golf at the Jekyll Island Golf Club or kids play putt putt




FOOD RECS

1. Tortuga Jacks: our favorite spot for a beach front marg and chips and salsa!

2. The Wharf: a beachy spot on the pier in the Millionaires Club (good spot to see the Christmas lights from)


SOMETHING TO NOTE: you do have to a pay a $8 a day toll to get on the island. (They have week passes as well)

This is a good option for families. You can book studio-3 bedroom villas.

St. Simons Island

St. Simons Island is about 35 minutes from the wedding venue.


Simons Island was voted America's #1 Favorite Romantic Town as well as America's #1 Favorite Beach Town by Travel + Leisure Magazine. *Now I haven't actually seen that magazine, so you're just going to have to take my unbiased -read: completely biased- word for it


St. Simons is much bigger, but the main area tourists like to stay is "The Village" There's tons of different restaurants down here and very walkable.


Things to do on St. Simons

1. Walk the lighthouse

2. Head over to Fort Frederica if you're into history

3. WWII Museum

4. Go to the village and find the toy store and play the ring game. THIS IS A SUMMER MUST

5. Book a shrimping excursion

6. Drive thru Gascoigne Bluff and Epworth by the Sea. This Methodist campgrounds hold a lot of meaning to Summer's family.



FOOD + DRINKS

1. Iguanas Seafood: in the village, great shrimp spot

2. The Porch: gotta get some fried chicken and a frose!

3. Fiddlers: a great seafood spot on the marsh

4. Benny's Red Barn: a St. Simons staple steakhouse.

5. Palm Coast/ Palmers/ Sandcastle: great brunch spots in the village

6. Barrier Island Brewing: Fun Brewery

7. Crab Daddys and Crab Trap: good seafood
