The Morton Arboretum is spacious and beautiful! Filled with lovely gardens, winding trails, and special art exhibits, this is a great place to pass the time.
Cantigny is another wonderful place to visit (one of Rachel's favorites). It offers gardens to wander through, good food to snack on, golfing, two museums, and a fun playground for kids.
For a short outdoor activity, there is mini golfing in Downtown Wheaton. Chris may or may not have beaten Rachel at a game there, who knows.
Downtown Naperville is close by, and it is filled with delicious restaurants, a variety of shops, and a river walk.
Every Saturday in Spring and Summer, Wheaton hosts a French market (farmer's market but fancy) in the downtown area. The market is open from 8am to 2pm. There are a variety of vendors who show up and provide high quality wares. It is definitely worth a visit.
Downtown Chicago is not too far away, about 30-45 minutes of driving. If you have the time and want to explore, there is an unlimited number of things to do there. We have parks, shops along the Magnificent Mile, the Sears (aka Willis) tower, the Hancock tower, Navy Pier, a variety of museums, and restaurants for any kind of cuisine you could imagine. We highly recommend taking the metro train to Chicago if you can, because parking can be difficult and expensive.
