Chris and Kenzie both attended South Middle School and Red River High School, knowing OF each other, but not knowing each other. Little did they know, by a whirlwind of events, they would end up going to senior prom together in 2018. They had their first one-on-one interactions at Town Square in Downtown Grand Forks.

After high school graduation, they both went their separate ways into their college lives, only lightly crossing paths three times in the four years of college.

Spring ahead to January 2023, McKenzie began to get an idea of this 'Chris Johnsen' as he was her brother's friend. She sat on it, prayed on it, waited on it. About 4 months later, McKenzie texted Chris FIRST and asked him out on a date - he responded immediately, of course ;)

The pair began their adventure going on dates once or twice a week, getting to know each other, but soon, realized just how compatible they were, and just how good the Lord is in what He does. Not only did the two begin to fall in love, they became best friends - the best the either has ever had. Inseparable, a match designed by the Lord, and created to give Him glory.

On March 9th, 2024, Chris planned an extremely detailed evening of events for Kenzie. As soon as the two left their dinner date - Chris brought Kenzie to Town Square...right where everything started back in 2018, and asked her to marry him. She said yes!

The two will become one on Friday, July 12th, 2024.
