Our Story

How We Met

Sibella's Side of the Story

Christopher and I like to say we met on Craiglist, and it's not completely false. I got a call from a friend one day asking if I could tag along on a house tour. She told me she was thinking about renting a room out from some guy in the Navy who owned a house that was close to campus. We knocked on the door, it opened, and there was Christopher. He had the biggest smile on his face and gave us the friendliest welcome into his home. We finished the tour and I thought he was so nice, and nice to look at. I got back into car and I turned to her and said, "you have to move in immediately". Long story short, she did. As time passed, I still liked looking at Chris, and apparently he liked looking at me too. Now we are getting married.

Christopher's Side of the Story

Yeah, we met on craigslist. It was fall of 2018 and I had two semesters of college left. I was in need of some roommates. I took to craigslist and Facebook marketplace to try and fill the void of vacant rooms. Of the many odd bird responses I received to the ad, I found a needle in the haystack from a person who seemed somewhat normal. She was great, and ended up living there for just over a year. I arranged for her to come tour the house, and she brought a friend of hers along for the visit. That’s the first time I saw Sibella. For obvious reasons… in the back of my mind I was hoping the new roommate would work out. It did, and after a few weeks, the new roommate would invite me along to hang out with her and her friends (which included Sib). After a few times hanging out, I got the courage to ask Sibella out on a date. My buddy Marc was a bar manager at the only rooftop bar/lounge in Tallahassee. I thought the stars were aligning. He hooked it up. Sibella and I rolled into a private table with a bottle of wine, appetizers, and a beautiful view. The date was perfect until it wasn’t. We found ourselves on the balcony of that rooftop bar a few hours later where I leaned in for a kiss. I was denied and shortly after we went our separate ways. I was thinking the whole drive home, “Did I do something wrong? Do I smell bad? Everything was going so great, what the heck happened?” Turns out, Sibella had strep throat that day and her friends wouldn't let her bail on the date. Shout out to Susana, Olivia, and Abbie! Multiple dates, cities, jobs, and degrees later, we are still thriving almost 5 years later. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

The Proposal

Chris bought the engagement ring from a jeweler up in Jacksonville. The jeweler happened to be coming to Tampa and decided to drop off the ring. With Chris being out of town that weekend, he thought it would be a great idea for the jeweler to deliver the ring to his buddies at the local bar on a Friday night. For the next few weeks, the ring swapped hands several times so everyone could get a good look at it.

Fast forward to March, and it's time for a ski trip with some of their closest friends. All of Chris's friends knew, but none of Sibella's did. Chris had booked a photographer to capture the proposal when they were out in the town. Well, in true Chris fashion, he decided to change the plan. This entailed snowboarding up and down the mountain with the ring in his pocket until he felt like the time was right. Thankfully, he doesn't fall much. It was the last run of the day and everyone stopped for pictures on top of the mountain. Chris and Sibella posed for a picture, and then everyone pulled out their phones all at once. That's when Sibella knew what was about to happen. Chris hugged her, whispered something sweet in her ear, then got down on one knee.
