We're thrilled to welcome you into our #SparklingLoveStory! Cj and I first crossed paths on July, 2018 on the online dating profile called Bumble. He was tall and handsome, wearing a Hawaiin shirt in his profile, so naturally I swiped right on him.
During the same week, I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to join Taco Tuesday at Nick’s Crispy Tacos on Polk Street and Broadway in San Francisco, CA, tagging along with my closest friend, Grace Phillips. Upon our arrival at Nick’s, we found ourselves engrossed in the vibrant atmosphere for a mere couple of hours when I suddenly exclaimed, “Grace, isn’t that the Hawaiian Asian man I swiped right on Bumble?” Grace laughed and encouraged me to approach him. Initially hesitant, I insisted that she should make the first move. With a playful countdown from Grace, I agreed to take the plunge.
I can't quite recall my exact opening line to Cj, but I believe it went something like, “Hi, I’m Jen. I recently came across your profile on Bumble.” Cj appeared pleasantly surprised and admitted, “Oh, I must have missed yours.” RUDE, I simply reintroduced myself with a smile, “Well then, hi again, I’m Jen.”
And then on August 1, 2018 I received a Bumble text from Cj, saying it was nice to meet me. He gave me his number and asked me on our 1st date.
After our 1st date the rest is really the #IgniteTheLieuSparks chronicles.
Within these last 6 years which will go into effect on September 4, 2024 we have accomplished 5 moves; 3 in SF and 2 in Seattle, that’s almost 1 move a year. During that time we lived out of a suitcase for 2 months when our apartment flooded in Seattle. Collectively we have changed jobs a total of 7 times. We have traveled all over the US, South East Asia and 8 countries in Europe. We bought our 1st car together named Harper after White Lotus, also Hawaiian themed in 2023. Cj was able to experience four wonderful Sparks Christmas’s with my Dad and Mom. I feel grateful I got to experience my time in Chicago when all of the Lieu household were together <3
When it comes to personality traits, we're undoubtedly complementary opposites, i.e. Ying & Yang. You possess a fiery temperament similar to a bull in a china shop, while I have a knack for diffusing situations like a serene cucumber. I'm inclined to see the bright side in everyone, whereas you lean towards realism, grounding me firmly in reality.
Your primary love language revolves around acts of service, and you're particularly fixated on the Dyson and maintaining cleanliness. Conversely, I thrive on words of affirmation and seek comfort in someone with a softer, more affectionate demeanor. Despite our differing love languages, we both willingly make compromises in our relationship, ensuring that each of us receives a blend of cleaning and fluffy expressions of affection DAILY.
Reflecting on the past several years, it's evident that we've undergone significant transformations, and this journey of growth will persist as we step into the next decade united as husband and wife. While TheLieuSparks Chronicles may evolve, one constant will forever endure: our unwavering fluffy love and friendship, which has seamlessly transitioned from best friends to now life partners.
Looking at all our accomplishments thus far we were made to say #LieuAndSparksSayIDo.
