In 2020—during lockdowns, uncertainty, and a time when society felt like it was running on empty—Christopher and Kristen took a risk. Not just the risk of meeting a stranger from the internet during a pandemic, but the risk of opening their lives to someone new. After only a few weeks of talking, they decided to meet in person.

September 14th, 2020 became a day neither of them would forget. Their first date began at Brixx and Barley, and continued with a long walk on the boardwalk. They talked until 3 AM, even though they both had work just a few hours later. The connection was instant, the chemistry undeniable. One great date turned into another, and soon they were seeing each other several times a week.

A couple of years later, Kristen took on the challenge of Stony Brook’s Accelerated Nursing Program—an intense, all-consuming journey. Weeks would go by without them seeing each other, a true test for any couple. But instead of pulling them apart, it made them stronger. During this time, Christopher realized something: Kristen was the one.

While Kristen studied day and night, Christopher was secretly planning the perfect proposal. If there was ever a moment he had to get right, this was it.

Fast forward 1.5 years to July 2025.

The two left for Italy on July 15th, a trip Kristen thought was simply the dream vacation they’d always talked about taking before “real life” set in—wedding, house, kids, and all the grown-up responsibilities.

They traveled through several cities, soaking in the beauty of Italy, but the big moment was planned for day 5 of their 12-day adventure. After a relaxing breakfast and a serene day at the beach in Positano (where Christopher spent over an hour floating in the sea practicing what he would say), they returned to their hotel to get ready for what Kristen believed was just a sunset cruise followed by dinner.

Once aboard, within the first 10 minutes, the crew offered to take their photo with the iconic Positano cliffs behind them. What Kristen didn’t know was that the captain had already given Christopher the signal.

He pulled out the ring and dropped to one knee.

…and immediately became the most nervous man alive.

The guy who never stresses suddenly forgot how proposals work and ended his speech by asking Kristen twice if she would marry him. Just in case she didn’t hear him the first time. Or the second.

And of course…

SHE SAID YES.

(Probably before he asked a third time.)
