I knew she was the one from the moment I saw her striking blue eyes, heard her infectious laugh, and experienced first-hand her adventurous, care-free, go-with the flow attitude. Our story begins a little more anti-climactically then most, we both took a job out of college with the same company. I began right after I graduated, and she did not start until the company moved locations from Hartford, CT down to Stamford three months later.
From that very first morning that I saw her, I knew I needed to get to know her better. I spent the better part of the next few months trying everything I could to make her realize that I liked her. It was most definitely a one way street… 4 months later and we had become extremely close friends. I was afraid that I might miss my window and be relegated to the dreaded “friend zone” if I didn’t so something, and fast. I finally mustered up the courage to ask her on a date. I may have been several drinks deep on New Year’s Eve, but that’s beside the point. She hesitantly agreed, and we set a date the next day (sober heads prevailed).
Because of office policy, we technically weren’t supposed to date co-workers. Therefore, I had to get a bit creative and booked a date at a small Italian restaurant the next town over (super discreet, I know). Other than the wine that was recommended to us, the date went extremely well! She agreed to go on another date, even after I pulled out a Groupon to save 30% on dinner… smoooooth. A few dates later, and I was convinced she would agree to be my girlfriend. I proceeded to ask if she wanted to “be exclusive.” Again, extremely smooth… She miraculously agreed, and we have been together ever since.
So we worked together at a company in Stamford, CT right after college. I felt like it was really easy to talk to him, we were definitely friends at first. I remember going up to him one Friday, when we were having an event in NYC that night and I hadn't hit ~all~ my numbers for that week but of course didn't want to miss out on all the festivities so Andrew told me I was fine without hitting that number..from then on we were great friends in and out of the office.
The whole office actually thought we were dating before we were. I thought we were just friends until our friend continued to make remarks about the two of us...
NYE of 2014 I get a text from Andrew asking me on a date.. I honestly thought it was a drunk text but also was a little excited. Nothing really came of that until...
I came out of the bathroom at work (basically would go there to hide from working) and Andrew was standing there at the water fountain to ask me on a date!
I agreed and met him at his house that night for a date and we were about to leave but he hadn't printed the GROUPON for our dinner yet #broke22yearolds.
We had to go to dinner out of town because we weren't allowed to have *office romances* so we went to Greenwich I believe.
Since that date the rest has been history. I think it was so easy because we were friends first and really got to know each other!
