Our Story

Andrew and Christy met through a group of friends in high school. The two groups joined forces Andrew's junior year and Christy's sophomore year (the exact location is unknown, but the obvious assumption is the Stelling's basement). From that point on they were inseparable throughout high school for all of the fun events from football games to prom, and even the occasional game of capture the flag (you know, like most normal high school kids). After graduation, Andrew went on to UGA and Christy followed the next year. They remained great friends and attended many functions together. Christy was a staple in the Baxter Commons Apartments where Andrew and Colin would throw epic band party pregames and play music that you wouldn't find at other parties around town. After college, Andrew moved to West Palm Beach, Florida to start his career in a place conveniently near some great fishing. Coincidentally, Christy's family would vacation in Jupiter, Florida every year during the summer. Andrew, presumably missing Christy, would always call her to hang out and take her fishing on his roommate, Jeff's, boat known as "Blue Steel". The motive, as it was confirmed later, was driven by Andrew's hopes that one day there could be something more between them. The finale each summer was the Dave Matthew's concert at the Cruzan Amphitheater in Wellington, Florida with all of their friends from near and far. After Andrew and his twin brother Tyler came down off of their high from Dave's sweet melodies, it was always time to say goodbye to Christy and each year it got harder. Finally, over the Christmas holidays in 2014, Andrew mustered up the courage to ask Christy to come to a concert in Athens with him and his friend Clarence. It was not presented as a date, but Andrew had a feeling it could end up as one. The name on the Georgia Theatre bulletin that night was Charles Bradley, who is about as close to a James Brown reincarnation as you can find. The perfect band and setting for sparks to fly. After a night of dancing, reminiscing in their college town, and meeting Charles Bradley himself after the show, the two of them realized they were much more than just friends. It was a wonderful start to a friendship turned love story. The rest of the story ya'll know. Andrew and Christy are excited to see everyone on June 17th to celebrate in the town that means so much to them!
Christy thought they were taking a spur of the moment bike ride because the weather finally felt like Fall. What she did not realize was, Andrew had been planning this occasion for months. They road bikes across the bridge on to Palm Beach Island. Christy wanted to stop and take pictures along the way, but Andrew said to wait and that it would be worth it. Finally they stopped at the Kapok Tree. While Christy was distracted by a cat and the stunning view, Andrew got down on one knee. When she turned around, he popped the question, and all she could say was "yes, thank you, thank you!" Next thing she knew, Jeff had jumped out from a bush and had been taking pictures the whole time. Jeff's fiance, Carrie, came strolling around the corner with their dog, Kayle, champagne, flowers, and a balloon. They all celebrated and took more pictures. Afterwards, Christy and Andrew biked down to the beach and called all their family and friends. Eventually, when the bike ride ended, the two of them had a late dinner at Hullaballoo, which is where they had their first date!
