How and where should we exchange currencies?

The best option is to wait until you arrive in Spain to withdraw your money from any bank ATMs. Some banks such as Wellsfargo only charges around $5.00 for the exchange ( you will receive the money in Euros through the ATM) , even with fees to withdraw from the ATM, it’s still a lot cheaper than exchanging money in advance in the states or in a currency exchange place. Also, most places here accept VISA or MasterCard, so if you have a credit card that doesn’t have any foreign transaction fees, that is also an alternative option.
