our story

We met in Spring of 2017 when Josh started at Jeni's Ice Cream in Wicker Park, Chicago where Cindy had already been working. After a very strategic "after-work-drinks" at Emporium with an infamous arm touch, we set our first date for December 7th, 2017 at The Map Room. You may be thinking, 'hey, that's the wedding date!' and you would be right. Our wedding day will be our Golden Anniversary - 7 years on the 7th. CUTE! From there, we were joined at the hip. We moved to LA together and despite 5 years of living in the same tiny, one-bedroom apartment, we are still hooked on each other. In 2022, we took our usual trip back to Chicago for Christmas with plans to celebrate a belated 5th anniversary there. We were finally going to revisit The Map Room (because we literally never went back after that first night), but when we arrived, Josh got down on one knee and proposed. We cried and hugged each other in our puffy winter coats as it started snowing. We went inside and marked the occasion with a Chicago staple - a shot of Malört. It was disgusting and special all at once. Christmas has always been our favorite time of year - the Chicago snow, the movies, the sweetness in the air. It only felt fitting that our engagement fell during this season and in our favorite city. And of course, now our wedding will be another special occasion making this time of year even better.

Many of our family members will be staying here. It's a great option if you're looking to stay in the same place as other guests. We do NOT have a room block arrangement with any hotel.

~Airports~

Smaller airport located in the valley. Ground transportation to and from this airport is extremely easy. Time to our apartment is about 10-15 minutes. Time to Pasadena is 20-40 minutes.

Hollywood Burbank Airport

It's the big one. There is a larger variety of flight times and airlines, but it is located farther away from Pasadena/The East Side (our recommended area for lodging).

LAX Airport (LAX)

Our favorite LA landmark - go in the day for a hike through Griffith Park or in the evening for stunning views from the Observatory.
