From Cindy: Meeting Larry was a completely unexpected blessing.&nbsp;We had both been online dating (unsuccessfully) for about a month before we stumbled across each other and hit it off immediately. We used FaceTime every night, sometimes talking for hours as we got to know each other. Due to our busy work schedules, we were only able to meet up in person about once a week. Despite our chemistry, I was pretty apprehensive that it would work. We come from very different backgrounds. Larry grew up on a dairy farm and I grew up in a suburb of Los Angeles. We also lived 84 miles away from each other, which was a huge barrier.&nbsp;When we started, Larry was being treated for cancer.&nbsp;&nbsp; While I complained about only being able to talk on the phone every night, it was really a useful tool to connect.&nbsp;Through all of this, I grew to respect and love Larry in a way I did not think was possible.&nbsp;He is the kindest, gentlest, most humble person I have ever met.&nbsp;He has a crazy sense of humor and a positive attitude about life that draws others to him.&nbsp;I am honored to know him and will be truly blessed to have him as my partner in life. From Larry: Life is often about second chances.&nbsp;In 2023, my world was flipped upside down.&nbsp;A cancer diagnosis, followed by a deep depression, made me feel like I would never find love again.&nbsp;A few days before Christmas 2023, I joined Match.com to see if someone would take a chance on me and my situation.&nbsp;Enter Cindy on January 13, 2024.&nbsp;The first several weeks, we were only able to “FaceTime” because of my work situation, cancer treatments, and the hour and thirty minute drive between us. Thankfully, even talking on the phone created a foundation of sharing and helped us build a bond that has continued to this very day. Our first “in-person” date on February 3rd, 2024 proved that I had in fact met someone very special. Cindy brought homemade turkey rice soup to our date to give me strength during my treatments, which confirmed to me how big her heart was.&nbsp;Love was born.&nbsp;From that point on, life has been a whirlwind.&nbsp;Our dates have included Harrison Hot Springs, rafting, family dinners, concerts, several hikes, a vacation to Yachats, Oregon, bicycling, and a celebration in Minot, North Dakota.&nbsp;After that, I received a positive cancer result and this culminated in a very funny, awkward proposal asking Cindy to marry me on October 12th. This has all proved to me how wonderful life can and should be.&nbsp;But….Cindy is more than that.&nbsp;She has shown a love that is based on generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, and laughter that transcends what I thought was even possible.&nbsp;Life is a journey, one to be shared.

Travel by CarIf driving North on I5, we recommend taking exit 256 to highway 539 to the Lynden-Aldergrove border crossing. From there, continue North to highway 1 East.
