Here's the perfect formula:
1 wrong assumption
+
1 message to the wrong Cindy on Facebook
=
1 embarrassed guy and 1 confused lady.
It was the year 2019. Raymond had kind intentions for his friend. He wanted to check up on him, make sure he was OK, but when he didn't hear back, he became worried something drastic happened.
Raymond thought back and realized his friend was associated with someone named Cindy. Last name? Who knows. But this Cindy seemed to have quite a few mutual friends with Raymond, and so a message was sent without a second thought.
"She's not responding back..." Raymond said, checking in with his friends.
"Because that's the wrong Cindy."
The 'wrong' Cindy looked at the message that popped up in the 'message requests' folder thinking it was a scam initially.
We're not friends...
Not sure who this person was and what he was referring to, she closed the message.
Until 1 year later.
Another random message from some scambot a year later made Cindy look at the same message requests folder again. Looking back at Raymond's message.
I never responded to this...
Investigating more into who this was, her curiosity got the best of her. Then, as shallowness would put it, he looked pretty charming to her.
So she responded with absolutely nothing to lose. (To this day, Cindy fully believes she's the one who made the first move, Raymond says otherwise).
Some witty banter, a couple nervous phone calls, and some awkward "show me your face so I know you're a real person" photos after, the two decided to meet in person.
On the first day, their similarities were uncanny. From speaking the same village language, having similar backgrounds and interests, to the point that they even had the same Chinese middle name: Ming. That's what both parents called them by growing up. Things fit almost too nicely.
So here we are now. Up to a couple thousand miles traveled through road trips, plane rides, and long walks wandering all over Washington, and a bunch of uncanny similar truths, they're getting married in September.
And so it goes.
