As many of you know, Adam and Claire's story begins at Boathouse Brothers Brewing Company.

They both started beertending in May of 2020, just a couple of months into the Pandemic. Claire would work many of the day shifts during the week, and Adam would work many Wednesday and Friday evenings. They would often work together for an hour or so as Claire's shift was finishing, and Adam's was beginning. They became good friends relatively quickly spending extra time at the brewery before or after their shift just to hang out with each other. Soon after that, Adam found himself a girlfriend, but...it wasn't Claire!

Almost a year later, Spring of 2021, Adam and Claire both found themselves single. After pretending they both didn't have a crush on one another, along with some gentle nudges from their Boathouse family, they finally started their journey together which seemed inevitable to those close to them.

A few months later, they made it official, and a few short months after that, they said "I love you" to each other. Ask Adam or Claire if you're looking for a story that will make you say "Of course that's how he said it".

Now fast forwarding to July 2024; after moving in together, multiple trips across the country, many holidays celebrated with their families, three job changes between the two of them, and adopting their dog Bear; they found themselves going up to Ely, MN with Adam's family where Adam planned to propose to Claire.

Ely is where Adam's grandparents lived for years, and where his mother was born. His family makes the trip up every year, and now Claire has become a part of that tradition as well. Adam decided this would be the spot where he wanted to propose to Claire. He spent months coordinating with his family and Claire's parents to make sure everyone was on the same page to be there for the proposal. The secret was hard for everyone to keep, especially Jay (Adam's Dad) who almost let it slip 10 minutes before the surprise.

The plan was to propose at Kawishiwi Falls, just 10 minutes north of town. When they got to the trailhead at the falls for the mile-long hike Adam, Claire, and his sisters, Allie and Katy would venture ahead. His Mom and Dad would catch up at the falls after meeting up with Greg and Brenda, who were there to surprise Claire.

Once everyone was in sight and Claire and Adam were looking out at the falls, Adam got down on one knee. Overcome with emotion, he could only muster the words, "I love you". Before Adam could say anything else, Claire said, "YES!". Adam pulled off surprising Claire with the perfect proposal and having their families there to celebrate.
