Our Story

Early Days

Claire and Jonny met on July 4, 2017 on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. After meeting, they followed each other on Instagram and watched each other's lives unfold via photos. They reconnected in late 2019 when Jonny, who at the time lived in Oakland and was working for the then Oakland Raiders, reached out to Claire on Instagram letting her know he would be home for Thanksgiving, and would love to take her out on a date! Thanksgiving week 2019 they had their first date at Punch Bowl Social in Saint Louis Park, MN, connecting over drinks while watching Monday Night Football. Soon after, Jonny moved to New York to begin his masters program at Columbia University and started working for the New York Jets. Claire, being a long time fan of the city that never sleeps, visited Jonny in New York the week the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. Rather than doing the things they had initially planned on, (seeing a Broadway show, going out to dinner, etc.) Jonny and Claire spent the weekend getting to know each other without the distractions of the big city. Right before Claire was about to get on a flight back to Minneapolis, Jonny found out that both the Jets and Columbia were going fully remote for the foreseeable future, so Jonny decided to move home to Minnetonka, MN. Claire was thrilled! They continued to casually date throughout the pandemic in Minnesota.

It's Getting Serious...

In April 2021 Jonny began working for the Allen Americans, a minor league hockey team, and moved to Dallas, TX. Claire had a hybrid job in Minneapolis at the time and had never been to Texas before. Jonny, being the gentleman that he is, flew Claire down to Dallas on most weekends and on her work from home days the entirety of spring and summer 2021 (Claire was incredibly grateful for the Delta Skymiles). One day in late July, Claire casually mentioned that she was thinking of moving out of her studio apartment in Minneapolis and needed to put in her two months' notice. Jonny then asked if she would move in with him in Dallas! In October 2021, Claire booked a one way flight to Dallas, TX, leaving most of her possessions behind in Minnesota. Since moving to Texas, Claire and Jonny have grown together both personally and professionally, most notably with Jonny becoming the President of the Allen Americans in April 2022. After a few extremely successful years with the Americans, Claire and Jonny decided to officially put down roots in the Dallas-Fort Worth area by purchasing their first home in April 2025.

The Proposal

On April 25, 2025, Jonny casually asked if Claire wanted to go shopping and grab some lunch in Dallas, to which Claire immediately said yes (as those are two of her favorite activities). As they were walking around Highland Park Village, Jonny got down on one knee and asked Claire to marry him (in front of Oscar de la Renta, no less). She said yes! They then celebrated at Bistro 31 with entrees and champagne.
