Late in 2016 in the anatomy lab at UVM, on a Saturday morning, Nik and Claire met. They had both signed up to teach incoming yoga instructors some basic anatomy and happened to cross paths that fateful day. However, the never found an opportune time to talk and actually left that day without more than a hello. A few weeks later, in the library, Nik would spot Claire and walked up to her, asking her flat out to go on a date. Initially, she was hard to reel in (she's a catch) and Nik spent several weeks trying to convince her to go out with him. Claire eventually gave in, and what ensued was the start of a loving and caring relationship that would take them throughout Burlington and New York, with visits all over the northeast to friends and family. Eventually, settling down in Albany for Nik's residency, they were engaged on February 28th, 2023 (a story for another time) and began to plan the rest of their life togehter.
