Take a hike in the foothills of Salt Lake City along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Hike difficulty: Mild.

Take the road up Little Cottonwood Canyon until you hit Alta Ski Area. Keep going straight past the city offices until you hit the summer road information booth. Either drive up the summer road or walk. There is an attendant to ask for more information if need be. Hike difficulty: Medium

Take a more aggressive hike to the top of Grandeur Peak for a view of Salt Lake City. Hike difficulty: Hard.

Take a walk around Liberty Park, then head to the Aviary for some casual birding.

Walk around the gardens while they're in full bloom.

Also known as the dinosaur museum. Great for kids and adults.
