Do we need to rent a car?

We would HIGHLY recommend renting a car for your stay. Cab companies are available on the island if you need them (wouldn't really recommend Uber or Lyft). It is a fairly sleepy island. Having your own rental car will definitely give you more freedom to do excursions (most of which require driving) and explore the entire island. We will have transportation available for you to get to the rehearsal dinner. Please talk to the bride and groom if you don't acquire a rental car and need help getting to the ceremony and around the area of Poipu.

Where should we stay?

We HIGHLY recommend staying in Poipu or as close to it as possible. Traffic can be unpredictable. If you are looking for a luxury experience while you are in Kauai, we recommend staying at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa, The Sheraton Kauai Resort, Ko'a Kea Resort on Poipu Beach, or Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu. These resorts are located close to The Beach House (ceremony site) have incredible beach access and give you that true "White Lotus" feel. These hotels and their websites are located in the "travel" section of this site. That being said, there are many Airb&b and VRBO accommodations available that are very luxurious but require you do your own grocery shopping etc.

When should we begin making our hotel and flight reservations?

We recommend that you start looking at making these reservations ASAP. Although it might seem like the date is still far away, flights and hotel/accommodation prices will only get more expensive from here on. October is a quiet month for vacationers, but many corporate events will take place during this time of the year, causing hotel and flight prices to increase, so make your reservations as soon as you feel comfortable doing so to avoid any stress.

How is the weather in October? What should we pack?

The weather in October is relatively warm. It will most likely be between 70 and 80 degrees during the day and around 65 degrees at night. However, you need to know that it rains nearly every day on the island of Kauai. That being said, it rains less on the South side of the island, which is where Poipu is located. Bring light sweaters and at least one rain coast. If you are planning on traveling to the North shore of the island (Hanalei) just be wary it rains much more each day.
