What is the dress code?
We'd like for you to try to outshine the bride and groom!
The dress code is formal/cocktail. For those of us wearing heels: we recommend ones that won't sink into grass (our cocktail hour will be in a garden).
The weather in Cuatla in August varies from a high of low 80s during the day and cools down to mid 60s at night.
Why Cuatla?
Clau and her family are all originally from Mexico City, and Cuatla is a beautiful town on the outskirts of the city. It has a rich history embedded in the Spanish conquest of Mexico and the Mexican Revolution and is surrounded by other towns and cities that we thought our guests would be interested in exploring.
What is an Hacienda?
The term Hacienda comes from the Spanish hacer (to make) and it describes estates and ranches that were sites of production of goods and served as the homes of some of the family that owned them. You can find these historical estates all around Latin America. This particular estate was the site of a sugarcane mill that is now a dedicated events space.
How do I get around?
There is more information included in the travel section of the site, but we will have transportation set up for our guests staying at the recommended hotel, Hacienda Cocoyoc, on the day of the wedding to and from the venue. From the airport, we recommend letting us know your flight details so that we can coordinate with other guests for vans. Uber is also very, very affordable and popular in Mexico. We do not recommend taking cabs/taxis as they are more expensive.
Will my phone work?
We recommend checking with your individual carrier, but most major ones like AT&T, T-mobile, and Verizon include Mexico City and the surrounding areas with their call/text plans.
What if I don't speak Spanish?
A huge portion of people in Mexico have been speaking English since elementary school! Plus they love to practice.
Can I drink the water?
Only in hotels and areas where there are clear filtration signs, and even then I would be cautious. The water is safe to shower/brush your teeth with, but we recommend going with bottled water to drink.
