In September of 2021, Clint and I were both looking for love on dating apps because how do you meet someone organically these days?!?! We matched on Hinge and started talking through the app. Clint told me that he loves doing woodwork and welding and wanted to show me pictures. Hinge doesn't allow pictures to be sent in the chat so I had to decide if I was ready to give him my number and trust that he was really going to send me pictures of his woodwork and welding projects. I took the chance and it turns out, he really did send me pictures of his projects!
After that we would text each other every day, several times throughout the day and chat late into the evening (often staying up waaaaay past my bedtime!).
After talking for about a week or so, we decided to meet up in person. I was so excited to meet Clint in person because our connection over texts and phone calls was so great...he actually gave me butterflies in my stomach!
So we met for breakfast at First Watch. I was so incredibly nervous but really didn't need to be. The connection we had over text absolutely translated in person...it was effortless conversation and I didn't want it to end.
We had to wait almost a week for our second date because Clint went out of town for ACU homecoming and I had my mom's birthday weekend. We met up during the next week at Boba Boba and shared our first kiss. By our third date we knew we didn't want to be with anyone else and made it "official".
In January of 2022 we started talking about taking the next step in our relationship and moving in together. We found a place and moved in together on March 11, 2022. We grew a lot during our first year living together. We learned a lot about each other, how to communicate better and how to live together/share a life together while still being independent people.
After our one year anniversary on October 20th, we started talking about the next step...marriage. On March 4th we moved into our new rent house that will allow us more space as a couple and a chance to entertain friends.
Then on March 11th, exactly one year after we first moved in together, Clint took me out for a day date. On the way to our destination, he took me by our first date spot because we didn't share a kiss on that first date...so he wanted to give me a kiss there. Then he took me to lunch at Terry Blacks in Deep Ellum...while the food is amazing, he really took me there so he could get me close to Sons of Hermann Hall. This hall means a lot to Clint because of his family's generational ties to it, as well as him being the president of the board. We knew from early on in our relationship that if we got married, this is where it would happen. We stopped by the hall for Clint to pick up some of his tools, which is a completely normal thing so while I was a little suspicious, I also thought it could be nothing. He got his tools and then went to the restroom before we left. As I waited for him, I thought "Ok, I guess I was wrong, he isn't going to propose". He came out of the bathroom and said he needed to check one more thing...he took me to the old bowling alley which is where wedding ceremonies are held and said some wonderful and sweet things. He said he wanted to ask me this question in the place where we would say 'I Do' and then got down on one knee and proposed. It was the sweetest and most surreal moment of my life. I never imagined I would find someone who truly loves me for me and wants to spend their life with me.
