It all started when Maybelle’s mom got wind of a reportedly godly young man that her pastor’s wife had met at a conference. Her mom, being the matchmaker she is, took it upon herself to ask around. She found out that a couple from our church knew him and they, without any of Maybelle’s help, called Cody, invited him to church, and when he agreed, slipped in the fact that there was a girl there he needed to meet.
After many hours of stalking, Maybelle and her friends were ready for Cody to arrive. Cody, on the other hand, had no clue what to expect - aside from the fact that Maybelle was nice.
Wednesday night service came around quick and the two met at the doorway of Heritage of Grace on a super rainy night. After a substantial amount of Maybelle hiding away and Cody talking to other people, Cody sat down next to Maybelle for the service (he would later find out that boys, who werent related, sitting next to her was unheard of). And so, with every eye in the church staring at them, they joined each other in the first of many worship services.
After service they talked about Maybelle’s dog, Cody’s house, Christian ethics, and their families. At some point, Maybelle even managed to rope Cody into dancing with her. They exchanged numbers and Cody returned the next Wednesday, as well as many more to come.
It didnt take long for them to start courting, and didnt take much longer for them to get engaged. Although the time may seem short, it has been packed with prayer, gospel conversation, affirmation from their loved ones, and counsel from many they respect. We pray that this marriage would put Christ on display for everyone they come in contact with - and we hope you will join us in that prayer.
