Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Isabels Version:

We met in college in the cafeteria. He was sitting with our mutual friend, and I had made an ice cream sandwich that I changed my mind on. I had offered our friend the sandwich, then I offered Cody which he politely said no because who takes something from a stranger! -smart move... We then ran into each other at a party later that night and we danced all night long. A few days later he asked me out on a date. Cutest date ever! We went to Uptown Whittier and had boba and I kicked his butt in Jenga then took a car ride to the top of the mountain, rolled the top down and stared at the stars. March 8th 2019 he asked me to be his girlfriend at Santa Monica pier. Said he wanted to step on the pier with his Girlfriend and I said yes. Five years go by, and he proposes in the same place with both of our families, friends and a crowd of people.

Cody's Version: The story of how I met the love of my life. Sitting in the cafeteria at Whittier College enjoying my dinner with a teammate, I saw this girl in a hoodie walk up to us; I did not pay much attention as my teammate was the one doing most of the talking, but as the conversation was ending this hooded girl offers me an ice cream sandwich. As any reasonable person would do, I said no. I mean I had no idea who she was, but little did she know that was my favorite dessert. Later that night there was a party. Standing there, I saw this beautiful girl from across the room. I had no idea who she was, but I pulled the best move I had and sent my friend over to her and told her I thought she was cute. As nervous as I was, the little bit of liquid confidence I had was there. As I waited, I got increasingly nervous. Then I saw her walking over. I did my best to sweet talk her and show her how smooth I was, and it must have worked because ever since that night, October 13th, 2018, we have been inseparable. I will admit that we have had rough patches, but the relationship has not. The night I knew I would marry Isabel is the night we sat down in Johnson Hall. We talked about opening up and trust and being there for each other. I have never had a conversation with someone like that before. She really is something special. Through all the adventures we have had, going across the country together, the wild side of going to Knotts Berry Farm, Disney Land, Universal Studios, and our personal favorite, Six Flags. Even with all these adventures we have had together, her braveness and willingness to come back to Arizona with me is something that I will be forever grateful for. I cannot imagine how hard it must have been for Isabel to leave her family in California. I know that I am an incredibly lucky guy and I love her so much. When I proposed to Isabel 5 years later in the same place, I asked her to be my girlfriend. I knew that I was the luckiest guy in the world and was going to spend the rest of my life with the most beautiful, kind, and loving girl in the world. I cannot wait to see what adventure and opportunities that the future holds so I can look you in the eyes and think back to when I got down on my knee in front of our friends, and family and think to myself, “I thought I loved you then.”

I promise that I will love you forever Isabel, and I cannot wait until we are Mr. & Mrs. Haley
