While Cody is an umbraphile, Nancy is a cataractophile. Thus, it is fitting that Rabun County has more waterfalls than any other county in Georgia... In fact, there are more than 30 waterfalls in the county, and most are available to the public.
Clayton is situated in the foothills of the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains, which makes it in an optimal location for many activities. If you love hikes, waterfalls, and scenic vistas and mountain overlooks as much as we do, then you're sure in for a treat! We didn't pick the area just because of the venue, but because of all of God's splendor that surrounds it! Check out the Clayton outdoor guide.
Downtown Clayton is so cute! From a local ice cream shop to the Wander North Georgia store and many artisan boutiques, you'll find fun places to visit for a date night in this mountain town while you're here. Check out their local city guide to find out fun things to do. Also, scroll Facebook or google - lots of fun things happening in Clayton, Dilliard, and nearby Helen!
Cody proposed to Nancy at Black Rock Mountain State Park, which is Georgia's tallest state park. We recommend visiting, of course. You can also traverse to Amicalola Falls, Georgia's tallest waterfall, or head to Tallulah Gorge. Learn about Georgia State Parks on their website.
You can also enjoy local wineries and experience the area's Southern charm. For beer lovers, consider swinging through Oktoberfest in downtown Helen, a German-inspired historic mountain town. For wineries, check out: 12 Spies Vineyards, Tiger Mountain Vineyards, or Stonewall Creek Vineyards.
This is such a beautiful part of the United States! You'll find that waterfalls abound, and the fall colors are breathtaking. We recommend looking at AllTrails to find some wonderful hikes. Who knows, you might see a bear, deer, foxes, or bobcats.
