Cody and Allie met in Decatur at Brew Works in July of 2021 (definitely not after initially connecting on a dating app). They spent several weeks getting to know each other through dinner, drinks, golf, and bowling dates (Allie is a far better bowler, Cody a far better golfer). Allie knew it was meant to be after a Cardinals loss on an August Saturday night, and Cody was willing to sweat it out in the stands Sunday afternoon to see a victory before leaving the city. She knew in that moment that she was always up for adventure with Cody and never wanted it to end (and Cody thought that too). They spent 3 years navigating life together; perfecting charcuterie boards, becoming Costco members, many more Cardinals games, trips to IKEA and Trader Joe's, traveling the country and world, holidays, pool days, Illini games, football Sundays, and the occasional winery or casino trip (to name a few). Finally, on a road trip to the great out west, Cody decided he had made Allie wait long enough. In the theme of adventures, he took her on a hike rated as "moderate" by the National Park Service, 1 mile and 1,000 ft up, to Columbia Rock viewpoint in Yosemite. Completing the hike turned out to be the hardest decision that day. When Allie saw the box in Cody's pocket at the top, forever was in sight. Cody didn't even have to ask before Allie shouted "YES!" June 28th, 2025 marks the start of their next, most important adventure of their lives. They cannot wait to be surrounded by their loved ones and celebrate!
