Our Wedding

One evening Cody and Katelyn were both attending a Zoom call for a mission trip they were going on that summer. Katelyn was trying to spot all the young adults going on the trip so she wouldn’t feel like the only young person going. That’s when she spotted Cody Woodward (she thought he was cute). Two days later, at a church work day, Cody and Katelyn met in person. Katelyn went up and introduced herself and they had a small conversation about their mission trip. Cody later admitted that it was that moment, seeing Katelyn’s smile and hearing her voice, that he knew he wanted to get to know her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for another 3 weeks before they had a second one-on-one conversation. During those 3 weeks they kept trying to find ways to talk and interact with each other (catching small glances and having small conversations in group settings). Finally on April 26, Cody and Katelyn were able to talk during lunch at a different church work day. During that conversation, Katelyn set the bait by telling Cody that she wanted to meet his dog in person. He immediately responded with “Don’t worry, you’ll meet him one day when we hang out.” It didnt take long for that hangout to happen. The next day after church Cody asked if she wanted to ride over to his house to meet his dog. Ever since that Sunday, Cody and Katelyn have been inseparable, spending every day they can together. A week and a half later, on May 8, Cody and Katelyn finally made things official. Two and a half months later, Cody and Katelyn went on the mission trip that had essentially brought them together. It was an amazing, God-ordained trip, and Cody and Katelyn have many stories to tell! One story in particular is the story of how Cody proposed the morning of July 15 on the beach. There was no ring, no preparation - just Cody, Katelyn, their love, and the ocean. It was the most perfect, unexpected moment! Cody and Katelyn had always said when you know, you know and Cody knew that moment was the right moment and didn't want to wait any longer to ask Katelyn to marry him. Katelyn, of course, said yes! They kept their exciting news to themselves for a few weeks, waiting to make things publicly official until they were back in the states, had the ring, and told their families. Katelyn has always loved a good romance novel, and her relationship with Cody is definitely a whirlwind romance straight from the books! They could not be more excited for October 11 and to see what God has in store for their lives together.
