What is the purpose of the wedding Mass?

The church teaches that during the sacrament of holy matrimony, the bride and groom become one flesh, unified in a covenant between them and God, where they promise to love and honor each other for the rest of their days.

Do I have to be Christian to attend the ceremony?

No! The church welcomes all to its sacramental celebrations, and we would absolutely love to have everyone witness our joining in holy matrimony.

Do I have to say the prayers or statements of faith?

Only if you want to! We will have programs available for all who wish to follow along with the Mass, complete with any directions on how to participate, such as when it is appropriate to stand or kneel.

Can I come up to the altar during communion, even if I’m not a Christian?

Yes! Our priest will be offering blessings to anyone who wishes to receive one. Just come forward during communion with your arms crossed over your chest, and the priest will bless you!

About how long will the Mass be?

Mass can be expected to run about an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes long, giving you plenty of time to head over to the reception venue for cocktail hour.

What should I wear?

The church has a modesty policy requesting coverage of shoulders, backs, and cleavage, so please plan to bring a shawl or sweater if necessary. We also request that, per the dress code, no tennis shoes, hats, jeans, or other casual attire be worn.

Can I take pictures or use technology during the ceremony?

As we have hired a wonderful professional photographer to capture all of the wonderful moments of the Mass, it will be requested that all phones, tablets, cameras, iPods, etc., be turned off and put away for the ceremony, to avoid obstructed view for the photographer, as well as any distractions the technology can bring.
