Shira likes to say we met through mutual friends and Colin likes to say we met on Bumble, but technically both are true. Our story began when we both swiped right on each other in June, 2021 and immediately hit it off talking about true crime, hiking, DnD, and theatre. Since we both went to school in Western Mass, Shira soon wondered whether we had any mutual friends, and Colin confessed that he actually knew exactly who Shira was because we had some Boston theatre connections. This was enough to seal the deal for a first date, which was supposed to just be a quick coffee but ended up lasting for 5 hours.

That first date quickly turned into many more, and soon we were inseparable. We shared declarations of love for the first time that September, after which Colin promptly got a back spasm, but luckily Shira didn't take this personally. In November, Colin asked Shira if they wanted to move in together, but the asking was a mere formality - Colin was so confident that they would say yes that he had already asked his landlords to adjust his lease to end at the same time as Shira's.

We moved into a lovely little Somerville apartment in August, 2022, and quickly made it our home together. Although we tried to take things slow, it didn't take long before we were talking about next steps. In classic Colin and Shira fashion, we actually booked our wedding venue before getting formally engaged. Finally, on a perfect Sunday morning in June, 2023, after a delicious diner brunch, Colin popped the question on the bank of the Catskill river in Leeds, NY. Well, technically he just pulled out the ring and started crying, but Shira knew what he meant.

Now we're excited to welcome you to share in and celebrate this love as we formalize it on September 21, 2024 with our family and friends!
