Brynette goes to Halifax for the first time to be a camp counselor. She befriends Laura and Joe, among other Haligonians, and also meets Colin for the first time at the Halifax Boardwalk (he's currently in his Electrical Engineering Summer Semester of Hell). A single word is exchanged ("hello"). It is not love at first sight. Sparks do not fly.

Colin moves all alone from the small fishing village of Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia to the sleepy, government-worker-filled city of Ottawa in the midst of a global pandemic to start his career as one of those sleepy government workers.

Brynette's family bring her up from Sarnia to Ottawa to start her first year in Carleton University for a Bachelor's in Social Work which would take her two years to complete (she got some credits back in Sarnia).

Colin and Bry (re)-meet in Ottawa with the rest of the students before the school year starts. They both remember each other but it's been a while since their last meeting, which wasn't particularly memorable to begin with.

Colin and Bry and the "Stray Dogs" in Ottawa (the young people that go to the Ottawa Gospel Hall) hangout regularly (very, very regularly) and get to know each other a lot more over the next two years! Colin really likes being around Brynette and misses her when she doesn't come to hangouts, but only platonically, of course.

Brynette graduates with her Bachelors of Social Work from Carleton and applies for her Masters in Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax. To Colin's severe disappointment (platonic, of course), she accepts an offer to the University of Toronto for the coming September and stays around in Ottawa for one last month before leaving for good and returning home to Sarnia for the summer.

Colin and Bry both go to Nova Scotia to attend the wedding of Eric and Sierrah Mereu who are good friends from Ottawa. While both in Nova Scotia, they spend a lot more time together and even have a day together mostly alone to hangout in Halifax (along with Adam). During this trip, Colin quickly starts to realize that he usually doesn't get this torn up when his friends leave Ottawa and maybe these feelings that he's feeling aren't, in fact, that platonic after all.

Brynette leaves Nova Scotia to go home to Sarnia and Colin goes home to Ottawa now fully aware that he reeeallllly likes her. He eventually asks Bry out on a date and agonizes for a full two days before she replies that sure, she'll give it a shot. Despite the less-than-ecstatic reply, Colin takes the opportunity to take her out to Art-Is-In bakery when Bry comes back to Ottawa for a camp in the summer. (This picture was taken a year later).

Colin and Bry have a long first date which Colin takes as a good sign and asks Bry out for another one. 24 hours later he receives an apologetic text from Bry saying that she doesn't see it working out, and the two wish each other well, then proceed to individually spiral to their friends. (This picture is also a re-enactment one year later).

6 months of sad-boi summer pass as Colin desperately tries (not very effectively) to get over Brynette, but the two remain friendly and see each other from time to time. Bry starts her Masters in Toronto. She comes back to Ottawa for a visit for an open mic night hosted by Vince and Ciela (the defacto Ottawa Stray Dogs parents). During the weekend, she quickly realizes that she may have made a grave mistake in rejecting this cute little asian boy and maybe she kind of really likes him after all and do you think he's moved on or should I ask him out but I kind of closed the door but Brunay still thinks he's kind of into me and he's probably worth a shot but I may have really messed up this opportunity and

Brynette asks a very whiplashed Colin to talk and promises she'll explain everything that happened. Colin realizes that he didn't do a very good job of getting over this girl whatsoever and agrees to talk. After a profitable conversation where they talk about what happened and what changed, the two agree to a second first date, which happens the next time Brynette visits Ottawa for a youth conference.

Colin and Bry continue a long-distance relationship while Bry finishes off her Masters and then moves back home to Sarnia. Despite the distance, they do a pretty good job at meeting up regularly and spending time with each others' friends and families, and an even better job at getting closer and having fun together.

Colin goes for a routine walk with Brynette, Brunay and Mackenzie to Brynette's favorite location - the Sarnia Bluewater Bridge. Bry is completely surprised when Colin gets down on one knee and proposes a lifetime together forever. She says yes!

Colin and Brynette get married on a beautiful oceanfront venue in Nova Scotia. But you don't need to read about it because you'll be there to see it... right?
