Our story began in 2005. It was at Prairie Elementary, 2nd grade when we first met. We had class together and this is where our friendship and fondness for each other began. I couldn’t tell you how much I always talked about Colton to my family growing up. We weren’t always close through the last half of elementary school or even middle school. There were those moments though when we would talk or hang around each other in a group/school setting and I remember it giving me butterflies all over again just like it did in 2nd grade.
Fast forward to sophomore year March 25th, 2014 we rode the same bus from the high school to middle school before Colton hopped onto another bus. This was the first day Colton and I started to officially talk to each other after he messaged me on Facebook that evening. April 25th, 2014 Colton asked me to be his girlfriend. Another big milestone and a huge part of our lives is our dog River, who we got on February 9th, 2020.
10 years later on September 28th, 2024 we are at the beach. Friends and family around us and me being mostly oblivious as to what’s going on. Colton gets down on one knee and asks the question I’ve been dreaming of my whole life. Will you marry me?
I never thought that someone I had a huge elementary school crush on in 2nd grade would become my husband but here we are. April 25, 2026 - after 21 years of knowing each other and 12 years of dating. I can officially and proudly say we will be husband and wife.
