<p>It all started with a bold question: “When do I get my hot wife?” That’s what Colton jokingly asked JW—his mentor at SmithCo — during his first few weeks on the job. Turns out, JW had someone in mind… his sister-in-law. After a bit of pressure (okay, a lot of pressure) from JW and Leslie on Thanksgiving Day, I (Britain) finally texted him—and we’ve talked every day since. Our first date was on December 13, 2024, and by January 25, 2025, we made it official. We spent the first few months in a long-distance whirlwind—Yuma to Las Cruces—until I moved to Caballo on April 4. Colton followed shortly after, moving to Caballo on June 7. Just two weeks later, on June 21, 2025, he pulled off the most perfect proposal during a surprise photoshoot at Elephant Butte Lake—the same spot where all the photos on this website were taken. It’s been fast, full of love, laughter, dusty boots, and desert sunsets. We’re so excited to build our life together in the place we now call home, surrounded by the people who helped write our story from the beginning. The rest, as they say, is history.
