From Concettas Perspective:
Christian and I met like many people today meet-- online. Technically, we met on two -- Hinge and Catholic Match. We talked for a few days before deciding to meet in person -- at Bravo in Pittston. I remember walking over to the restaurant from my apartment, unsure what would come from this first date. When I walked in, I saw his smiling face at me and immediately felt both at peace and excited for the night to come. We talked and talked and talked (and had some super delicious food!) and time flew by. Dinner was ending and neither of us wanted to leave, so we walked over to the Tomato Bar for drinks and to keep the night going. I remember never wanting that first date to end. After countless dates, trips, experiences, and lengthy FaceTime dates and deep conversations, I really did grow with my best friend.
For those of you who don't know me, I had a previous relationship that lead to an engagement- one in which God encouraged me to leave. I was able to learn what I wanted, needed, and deserved in a Godly relationship and marriage. That knowledge and wisdom helped me appreciate my relationship with Christian even more. I grew up seeing such amazing and strong marriage relationships - my parents and both sets of my grandparents; and I knew I always wanted a marriage like theirs, however I think God needed me to see the opposite before I could truly appreciate what I knew I wanted and what I deserved. Christian is my best friend - he respects me, he inspires me, he supports me, he sees me, he hears me. He is my peace when times get stressful. We are always able to have fun and smile, whether we are traveling somewhere new and exciting or just sitting on the couch watching a show or movie. I just look at him and immediately feel loved and can't help but smile. I love Christian so much and can't wait to choose him not only on January 4th but every single day of our lives! I am so excited to continue on our journey together, through the ups and downs, always having each others' backs and supporting and loving each other through everything life throws our way.
Thank you to our family and friends for always supporting and praying for us. We ask you for continued prayers and love as we begin this next journey in life!
From Christians Perspective: From a very young age, I had a deep desire to one day get married. I grew up witnessing the beauty of marriage first-hand with the example provided by my parents, Carl and Brenda, and yearned for the day when I too could find a partner and create a family of my own!
While having a family was always the eventual goal, my 20s were dedicated towards studying for my eventual career working in medicine. I was constantly on the move, living at home in Colorado, being in school in Oregon, and having rotations all over the country. During this time, I would go on many first dates via dating apps like Hinge, Bumble, and CatholicMatch, seeking a partner with whom I could share my love of travel, my faith, my family, and all of my hopes and dreams! I had a very very long list of requirements for my eventual spouse, and despite many first dates, there were very few second ones.
After graduating PA school, I decided to move to Harrisburg to continue to pursue my education in the form of an emergency medicine fellowship. Not knowing anyone in the area, one of the first things I did once I was settled was check out the dating scene! I first saw Connies profile on CatholicMatch, and was immediately interested. She talked about the richness of her family heritage, her desire to have a family, to travel, and the importance of her faith, and I immediately was like, I HAVE TO REACH OUT TO THIS WOMAN! So I wrote a very heartfelt message, aaaand she never responded.
As luck would have it, about a week later her profile popped up on my Hinge feed, and I took it as a sign. So I reached out again, and she responded! I was so excited that we had only been talking a couple of days before I asked if we could meet. And the rest, is history! Connie is my best friend, my confidant. She inspires me to see the world from new angles, challenges me, and is always up for an adventure. I love her with all my heart and am so excited for our lives together! Thank you for supporting us in this exciting time, and for the love that you have for both of us!
