Our story starts like a lot these days; “the interwebz” as Mac says. I had just moved back to Littleton from Pueblo and matched with this girl that sold herself that she could do the worm, and of course she was suckered into a dude looking for his euchre partner. Quirkiness/unique individuality probably best describes our relationship from the start. It all started with a drinks date at Old Blinking Light, on the night following the Colorado Avalanche’s championship parade in 2022. The vibes were perfect and although I was fine with mostly listening as Mac told me her life story, drinks turned into dinner, which turned into walking around the adjacent Civic Green Park to extend the date as much as possible. As that first date progressed, more memories were made at that park like high fives, a five-dollar bet that kept on being returned and then securing a third date (3rd!?, bold right?). The next time we went to that park another core memory would occur, so stay tuned. As we continued to date, we stayed true to being unapologetically ourselves and the rest is history, as they say.

Fast forward a year and half later, a lot changed but our love continued to grow deeper and deeper. The biggest change included training taking me to Houston in late June 2023 for four years. Our relationship, now long distance, was not without its challenges, but the connection only grew. When it was time to buy an engagement ring, I had to come up with a meaningful but surprising way to propose. Although Mac thought otherwise, I knew I wanted to somewhere special in Colorado. That brings us to December 16th, 2023. After a breakfast with some family that was too conveniently across from Civic Green Park, we took a walk filled with shared nervous energy, to put it nicely. The mix of awkward nervousness and sarcastic nervousness was probably a sight to see, but holding true with unique individuality, the moment was ours.
