Q + A
How do we get to Santa Margherita Ligure?
To answer this, it's best to know the general geography of the area. Santa Margherita Ligure is on the coast of Northern Italy - just north of Portofino, a popular tourist destination. It is a 40 minute train ride east of Genoa or a 3 and 1/2 hour train ride from Flornce. Most international flight travel will take you through one of two airports - Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) or Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (GOA). GOA is the closer of the two airports to Santa Margherita Ligure, but it is not a large airport as compared to MXP. Regardless of which airport you end up in, we suggest taking a train from GOA to Santa Margherita Ligure as it is a short ride and the train station is within walking distance to the Imperiale. Getting a train from Milan Central to Genoa should also be easy and has a duration of 1 and 1/2 hours.
Do we have to stay at the Imperial Palace Hotel during our stay in Santa Margherita Ligure?
There are a number of hotels in the Santa Margherita area, including the surrounding towns in Rapallo or Portofino. Please see the 'Travel' Section to see specific hotel information. If guests decide to book their accommodation at the Imperial Palace Hotel, we ask that they coordinate with us so that we can get a discount with a group booking. Otherwise, feel free to book the accommodation that works for you.
Can we stay in another town outside of Santa Margherita Ligure?
It is certainly possible to take a train into Santa Margherita Ligure on the day of the wedding. However, if possible we recommend that our guests stay as close to the hotel as possible in order to prevent any unexpected travel delays.
What time should we show up to the wedding?
The Ceremony does not start until 6PM (18:00), so please feel free to sleep in as the wedding will run until 2AM (02:00). We recommend that guests arrive at around 5PM (17:00) or earlier in order to make sure everyone is settled for the Ceremony.
