This is a long one, so here it goes.
There is a bit of a history with the Dunmire and Dixon clans. Gabe's uncle Bob and my dad have worked together since the 80's. This is just to preface because it'll be of some importance later.
Gabe used to room with my brother, Jake, back in 2014...sometime around there. Gabe decided to spend Thanksgiving with my family, but I was currently dating someone at the time and didn't pay him any attention. I just assumed he was one of my brother's goofy friends. Which don't get me wrong, he totally was (love you Gabe). All I remember is being very irritated that he ate all of the chocolate fudge my grammy made. Everything else from that weekend I don't remember very well apparently.
I went to Auburn, did my thing, and ended up in lower Alabama working in the poultry industry. I didn't know many people, so I would often go home to see the family. During an unfortunate family event, my mom and Bob ran into each other. I guess I somehow became a topic of discussion, and my mom detailed how I was living in Alabama working. Bob then let my mom know that Gabe was also living in the same area in Alabama. According to my mom, Bob was going to have him call me.
About this same time, I was getting very irritated that every time I opened Facebook I had message notifications. I didn't have the app downloaded after just recently deleting it. If you know me, I am super OCD about having unread things on my phone, so I re-downloaded the app and saw that Gabe had messaged me a few months back seeing if I was going to be going to Augusta anytime soon. Whoops. So I started messaging him back feeling kind of bad for the delay, and we started chatting.
I asked him to go out to eat with me one day during the week just to have someone to talk to with being down in a new place and all. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he’s tall, dark, and handsome. Since he had been friends with my brother, I honestly wanted it to be a friendly visit to talk to someone I was familiar with. Surprisingly we just clicked and closed out the restaurant. We sat outside the restaurant until 2am talking about everything. It’s funny looking back because we were always bypassing one another, but it was never the right time. We couldn't be happier.
