It began on an enchanted beach in the Brewster bay
Amidst the mid-summer’s heat and the crisp ocean spray
Where they first met eyes – out of a painting from Monet
They began as friends, days and nights spent in platonic condition
Little did they know a flame was being sparked, one of heartfelt ignition
He taught her how to drive, and her lateness he did tolerate
In return she hinted he change his wardrobe – the xxl shorts, perhaps he could donate
As the leaves changed color and the days drew shorter
life pulled them away from their Cape Cod headquarter
They stayed in touch sparingly, with limited follow through
By the sign of the first snow, there seemed slim chance for rendezvous
Yet no winter lasts forever, no spring skips its turn
And the flame of love I had mentioned, was about to engulf them with its burn
The freeze soon thawed as the moss showed its green
To return to Massachusetts – the boy was certainly keen
For it was Memorial Day Weekend, and all through the town
The rambunctious twenty-somethings were ready to throw down
In a cozy pub in Harwich, as the barman poured ales and jager
The music stopped as he busted open the doors. A maid whispered, “is that Arnold Schwarzenegger?”
Their eyes locked as one, she was instantly smitten
They knew at that moment, their whole story lay unwritten
Fast forward years later, to that same enchanted beach in low tide
he got on one sandy knee, and asked her to be his bride
We can’t wait to celebrate with you all, to be merry and hearty
If you remember one thing – you must bring a sick costume to the after party
