Our story began much earlier than either of us were a part of it.

Connor was born and raised in Clayton. He is fifth generation in the local family business in town, and his family has been here much earlier than even that.

Christina's paternal grandparents used to vacation at Bonnie Castle in Alex Bay. They loved the fishing and would come up once a year. Christina's maternal grandparents brought her mom and siblings up every year to stay at Bill and Jack's Marina in Fisher's Landing. Christina was a regular weekend warrior as a kid in Fisher's Landing.

Her mother and step-father loved the river so much they bought their Summer retirement home on Lyellton Dr. [Side story! Their house on Lyellton was built by some of the Gray family. Picture for proof: the original kitchen cabinets, built with scrap material from Gray's Motel.]

When the pandemic hit, Christina began working remotely from Lyellton Drive. The classy dating app Hinge brought us together officially, but if it weren't for our parents and grandparents before us loving this river, we probably wouldn't have ever met. Each generation slowly nudged our paths toward one another. Sometimes we joke and wonder if we had ever crossed paths as kids in the grocery store, or mini putt, or an ice cream stand, and that the universe laughed and said "Not yet, let's wait another 15 years". From the moment we did eventually meet, it was your classic story of a local guy and a Summer girl, making the most of the Summer they had.

What they thought was only going to be a Summer fling was really the beginning of the rest of their lives together.

And so the dock that we will be exchanging vows on is the same dock that we fell in love on - spending Summer nights talking the hours away as the sun set upon The River that is now our home.
