Connor and Kililani met at Hillside Community Church serving alongside each other in the Students Ministry team. In different seasons of life they grew to appreciate the friendship that was nurtured. And on a trip with a group of friends in Yosemite they confessed to each other that their relationship was more than friends. Shortly after that trip they began dating.

On Christmas day 2022, Connor arranged for everyone to play a fun game of charades, called fishbowl. While everyone sat around the living room he set up for Kili to go first. Within the bowl of prompts to act out contained papers with the question written "Will you marry me?" When Kili pulled the prompt out she attempted to act out the charade, but soon realized Connor was helping her. To her surprise she further realized that this was THE moment and overwhelmed with joy, she said yes before Connor could actually ask the question out loud. In the spur of joy, Connor asked Kili "Will you marry me?" in front of both their families. With joyful tears spread throughout the room, it became a very memorable Christmas.
