These are all great outdoor spots within the city that are free to explore!
This is a cool park elevated above Chelsea covering an old rail line. The neighborhood has plenty of great restaurants. Also close to Little Island!
Another outdoor park in Chelsea perched above the West River. Chris Thile (one of Connor's favorite musicians) is performing here with his wife each night from August 14 - 18 at 8:00 PM (see the website link for tickets)
Iconic. Also home of some of New York's finest restaurants: Applebee's and Red Lobster. All jokes aside, come visit after dark if you've never been.
Central Park is great to fit in between other plans, or to treat as a destination in-and-of itself. Check out the Lake or Belvedere Castle. If you find yourself uptown, the North Woods are also lovely.
You can walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn and back over the Brooklyn Bridge (if you haven't walked enough) with great views of the city. Get some ice cream in Dumbo on the Brooklyn side and admire how pretty the neighborhood is.
Plan to spend about 45-90 minutes here if you're visiting the museum. You can visit the outdoor memorial without going into the museum (no tickets required in this case).
The quintessential New York museum. It's huge and you could potentially spend an entire day here. Check out Central Park on your way in or out!
An awesome American art museum in Chelsea (close to the High Line + Little Island). Free admission on Friday night from 5:00 - 10:00 PM!
A free, 30-minute ferry ride (each way) that will take you to Staten Island and back, which runs every half-hour. Has great views of the city and surrounding areas, including the Statue of Liberty! Serena and Connor have sprinted many times to catch this before it leaves!
The world's sixth-largest church, which also happens to be in Connor's and Serena's neighborhood! Also has beautiful outdoor gardens sometimes roamed by peacocks. If you come up this way, make sure to check out Mama's Too for pizza or Absolute Bagels for bagels. Call us for more specific recommendations--we love it up here!
Connor's favorite stand-up comedy spot in the city. Try to reserve tickets for a show online or otherwise show up 45 minutes in advance for stand-by! Tickets are free but there is a two-item minimum per person (the food is actually quite good).
Legendary jazz club. Connor and Serena have been many times and always enjoy it. Try to book table tickets if you can, as the standing area at the bar is pretty small.
