Imagine this...moving to a brand new state, 6 hours away from everything you have ever known, literally not knowing a soul, and starting a brand new job. This was the reality for Colleen in March of 2022. After moving to Roanoke, Virginia for a travel nursing job, Colleen found herself attempting to wade in the dating pool in her new found “home away from home”. Along came this tall, handsome, funny firefighter...Conor Healy. After that first coffee date at Sweet Donkey, they were both head over heels. Fast forward to now, 3 years later and these two have overcome many obstacles, learned so much about themselves and each other, and have created a beautiful life that is just getting started. 3 years down, a lifetime to go!

Moncks Corner, South Carolina will forever hold a special place in their hearts. In early April of 2024, these two lovebirds headed to Charleston, South Carolina for a little weekend getaway. Little did Colleen know that Conor had been planning this trip, and all of the details, for about a year, and it did not disappoint. They stayed in a cute little AirBnB, toured downtown Charleston, ate some fantastic food, and spent quality time together. The highlight of the trip was the Cypress Gardens in Moncks Corner. This hidden gem just so happened to be where the famous boat scene from “The Notebook” was filmed. That movie also just so happened to be one of Colleen’s favorite movies. This part of the trip was a complete surprise to Colleen and obviously she was thrilled. As Conor and Colleen walked through the Cypress Gardens admiring the scenery, they wandered out onto a dock that they had all to themselves. As Colleen walked out ahead, Conor got down on one knee behind her. As she turned around, she was shocked. It all happened so fast, but it was the best surprise should could have ever asked for and, obviously, she said yes very enthusiastically. Conor’s sister then popped out from behind a tree and captured the special moment for them to always remember.
