What are the wedding colors?
Our wedding theme is a Wildflower Wedding. This means you will likely see many pops of color throughout our venue! Expect pops of lavender, yellow, pinks, greens and blues to take center stage, and in the case of our bridal party- periwinkle will be the star of the show.
Is the wedding open bar?
Yes! The wedding will be open bar with basic cocktails available all night. 1918 Cellars wine will be limited to dinner, however there will be two signature cocktails and (amazing) 1918 Cellars cider to enjoy throughout the night as well!
Can I take photos with my phone during the ceremony?
No! Please please please no phones out during our wedding ceremony. This is very important to us. We would rather everyone is staying in the moment with us, while our fabulous photographers capture shots of the ceremony with no cellular devices in their way <3
What is the dress code?
This is going to be a black tie event, which means go all out in your finest attire! We want everyone to feel like royalty at our castle wedding <3 However, that doesn't mean to blow your budget buying new outfits just because you want to fit the dress code. Semi formal is welcome as well if you would feel more comfortable that way!
Where should I stay?
We have reserved a block of rooms at the @ Michigan Inn and Lodge. Charlevoix is a beautiful place, but that also means the hotels get very booked and pricey in the summer. The @ Michigan Inn and Lodge is a bit run down, but they have assured me that they have been renovating their entire establishment. The block of rooms that we secured is in the lodge portion, which is the quieter section of the lot. There are many other options in the area, but they might be either pricier or further from the venue! Overall, please do a little research and make sure you choose what works best for you!
Is the wedding child friendly?
We love all of the children in our lives! However as a heads up, this event is going to be very adult centered. The ceremony will be ethereal, with the music being played by a harpist. It may be boring for the kiddos to sit through. Directly following the ceremony will be a cocktail hour with Hor devours that are not super child friendly. (stuffed mushrooms, shrimp and brie crostini's, etc. The set dinner being served is also fairly adult and is available for viewing on the home section of our website. While children are welcome to enjoy all the fun of our reception, we understand if this event is one that they might prefer to miss out on!
What is parking like at the venue?
As Castle Farm's premier location, the Knight's Courtyard and Castle do have their own parking area just for our guests. It will be opened up the day of the wedding. If you find yourself parked in front of the main castle entrance, you will want to go back to the main road and drive to the other end of the property. There you will find the entrance for our wedding.
Can we explore around Castle Farms?
Yes! Castle Farms is huge and beautiful. With vast gardens, ponds, giant chess boards, enchanted forests and a fire breathing dragon, you'll want to either arrive early to explore or plan on spending part of cocktail hour taking a walk around the grounds. Our wedding guests are also entitled to 50% off a tour of the Castle Farms Museum for the entire weekend of our wedding.
