Cora and Teddy met for the first time at The Landing restaurant in the Summer 2017. Cora had recently started working as a host, and when Teddy joined the team she trained him as a host. Little did she know that she'd be trying to get him to listen for the rest of her life.
In the summer of 2018, the two started going on dates. As the summer came to a close and Teddy moved back to Houghton for college, they realized this couldn't just be a summer fling. Teddy and Cora started their long distance relationship, over 300 miles apart. Phone calls became their love language over the schoolyear, until they reunited the following summer. They like to think that this set the foundation of their strong communication.
No longer working together in the summer of 2018, they still saw each other most days, taking advantage of being close once again. At the end of the summer, Cora started college at Wayne State, located 550 miles from Teddy at Michigan Tech. They once again worked on their communication skills.
In the spring of 2020 in-person classes came to a stop with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after the shutdown, Cora temporarily moved to Houghton to finish out her school year alongside Teddy finishing his college career.
After Teddy graduated and Cora finished her first year of college, they moved into an apartment just outside of Detroit. They went from being hundreds of miles apart to being locked down in a single bedroom apartment together. A welcome, but potentially challenging, change. The two survived the pandemic (and each other) and came out stronger for it.
Being home so often, Cora and Teddy adopted a cat in early 2021. Alfie's hair color fit right in and made a great addition to the home. They felt comfortable and a lot of love at home. Shortly following, Detroit summer was in full swing and they tried to take full advantage of going out in the city as much as possible.
In August of 2021 they preemptively moved to a new apartment in Clarkston, in anticipation of Cora graduating that fall. The day after moving to their new apartment, Cora and Teddy took their first big trip together. They traveled out of the country, each for the first time, to Ireland. A trip they meticulously planned for months, and a place they were both so excited to experience. On the first day of the trip, under rainfall in a Celtic garden, Teddy asked Cora to marry him. They spent the rest of the trip enjoying warm, sunny weather (an Irish miracle) while traveling all over the country, experiencing as much as they could.
Cora graduated a few months later in December of 2022 and joined the workforce full-time in the start of 2023. They have very much enjoyed the new area they reside in and love all of the outdoor recreation it offers. Although they enjoy Clarkston, they spend many weekends traveling all over to visit friends both near and far.
In early 2023 they decided that Alfie needed a friend and they adopted another cat, named Holly. Between work, cats, and a healthy amount of play they manage to keep themselves ever-busy.
They have greatly enjoyed the life they have started to build together and are excited to see what the future has in store.
