Corina & Jordan

Here's the Story

Here's The Story....

Like any good love story, Corina and Jordan’s is a little bit of a windy road. Actually, it’s more like a very straight road that was closed for construction for a few years…But like any good construction project, it was worth the wait.

Corina and Jordan were set up on a blind date in 2011. Corina was in Residency at Penn. And Jordan was taking up residency at City Hall. Not surprisingly, they remember things a little differently from that first date seven years ago. Corina, her memory a bit cloudy from Residency-induced sleep deprivation, doesn’t remember much at all. She doesn’t remember where they sat (second table from the window) or what they ate (tuna burger and frisee salad; she had some of his fries). But she does remember sitting across from a strapping young charmer, who was quick with a joke and long with a story. She remembers thinking this is the kind of guy she wanted to marry and even called to tell Mom that this one might be worth remembering.

Jordan, for his part, remembers slightly more from those two early dates. Corina’s fearless conversational style, her deep interest in the world around her, her seeming interest in whatever Jordan was talking about, and, of course, those hypnotizing blue eyes.

After two dates, though, they went their separate ways – Corina to New York and Jordan to, well, still Philly. Though there’s some debate about what exactly happened (and whether or not crying uncontrollably on a second date is considered good dating strategy), we prefer to say that the timing just wasn’t right.

Three years later - both now slightly better rested and each with significantly more surgical experience - Corina and Jordan reconnected. Corina was back practicing in Philadelphia and Jordan was looking for more doctors in his life.

Over the next two years, Corina and Jordan developed a deep friendship, fueled by their appreciation for rye whiskey and forged by an unspoken agreement to share every one of their secrets with each other. After many months of commiserating about the state of the world and the state of their romantic pursuits, Corina asked Jordan what he thought about officially trying out a third date. They discussed the pros and cons of launching into a romantic relationship for four hours before they decided to take the plunge.

That third date turned into a fourth date, and then a fifth.

Then long car trips together and even plane trips.

Eventually it turned into a new house together, and new couches, and vintage credenzas.

Jordan showed Corina his intense passion for paint colors; Corina taught Jordan the value of her head-spinning decisiveness.

Jordan made his favorite dinner recipes for her; and Corina played her favorite podcasts for him.

Then, one evening, over a TV-lit conversation about short-term disability insurance, Jordan presented Corina with an engagement ring. The proposal was executed with such flawless subtlety, some have suggested that Jordan may have, in fact, failed to actually ask The Question. But, Corina, stickler for details that she is, prodded with a simple, “did you have something you wanted to ask me?”

Jordan eventually asked. And Corina immediately answered. And on November 11th, the two will both agree to spend the rest of their lives together.

And we hope you can be there with us to celebrate.
