Corina and I are so thrilled to invite each and every one of you to our wedding! A few little known facts about us and our relationship......
Corina was born in Bolivia until she was 2 years old. She migrated back to the USA where part of her family still lives. She spent the majority of her life in Washington but not before she explored the world, working on private yachts. Living the American dream got old though and she moved on to the world of food. Corina owned and ran her own food truck for 3 years before branching out further and becoming the assistant manager of a catering company. If you haven't tried her cooking yet, you're really missing out!
I was born and raised on Vancouver Island B.C. Living the West coast dream, I also got into the food industry for the first 10 years of my working life. As much I loved to cook ( and I'm no Corina), I knew it wasn't my passion in life, so much as a hobby. I moved on to a lengthy application process in Policing. In true Police fashion, it only took me a mere 9 years to get accepted but I got there! You can find me Policing the streets of Abbotsford B.C. these days. I specialize in drinking terrible Tim Hortons coffee, avoiding donuts to escape the over used cop jokes, and doing my best to keep the fine folks of Abbotsford safe. I do love a good plate of bacon though ;)
Corina and I met during the height of COVID when travel was restricted and the borders were closed up tighter than Knox! It all started when we were both certain we had set our profiles strictly to meet people in our respective countries. But the universe had other plans for us!
We both happened to be near our countries borders while perusing the dating site. I reached out to Corina and it was love at first sight! Ok not first sight, but first message. Ok ok, 25th message, she made me work for it, but who's counting?! We chatted back and forth before realizing the universe had only allowed us to see each other's profile for a brief moment while we were near the border and in the same radius. It wasn't long before we set up a meeting. How, you ask, with the borders still closed?
Peace Arch Park allowed Canadians to enter the park during the day without technically crossing the border, or at least having to clear customs each time. And thus started the following 8 months of meeting 2 and 3 times per week for picnic dates at Peace Arch Park in the rain, sleet, hail, snow, and extreme heat! One thing was for certain though, we both knew the moment we met, there was only time and distance between us. It was the one and only time either of us could say, "when you know....you know." We began planning our future nearly from our first meeting, about a week after we started chatting!
With Covid restrictions starting to loosen up, Corina and I took our first trip together to New Orleans, 9 months after meeting, with our dear friends. We partied the nights away, explored the days away and had the time of our lives in a city that never sleeps!
On October 1st, 2021 Corina woke up with a plan in hand and took me out for a delicious breakfast at a well known little cafe in New Orleans. Unbeknownst to either of us, their menu was loaded with pecans.....a nut I am highly allergic to. My first bite of delicious waffle turned into a moment of utter panic for Corina when all she could think about was, she may have just killed her bride to be, as she planned to propose later that day. But the universe had other plans for us again! I survived the first attack from my future wife and made it to the afternoon, where Corina had stealthily planned a private carriage ride through historic French quarter starting in Jackson Square, complete with whiskey, champagne, and flowers. Being the detective I am NOT, I didn't see it coming. Our carriage driver happened to be in on the surprise, pulled over on Esplanade Street and planned a mini photo shoot where Corina popped the question! Can you guess my answer?
Of course I had been planning my own proposal for some time prior to Corina beating me to it and popping the question, and I wasn't about to let it go to waste.
On October 30, 2021, I whisked Corina away to the beautiful Sunshine Coast in B.C. where we stayed in a private yurt, over looking the ocean. I had the help of my amazing friends that set up the most beautiful proposal setting one could ever ask for. Complete with lanterns, candles, charcuterie and champagne over the ocean, I also took a knee and asked the love of my life to spend forever with me. Can you guess her answer?
Corina and I are so excited to start our lives together as one, and furthermore, have all of you by our sides while we tie the long awaited knot!
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and we can't wait to see you all on the big day!
