After two career endeavors that brought Jeff, a Kansas City native, to Lake City, FL, a friend casually suggested he try online dating since the small North central town didn't offer much socially for twentysomethings.
I was (Corrie -- hi, friends!), born in southern Georgia and raised in Gainesville, FL, and opted for online dating after the college social scene left me disillusioned and, frankly, annoyed with the opposite sex.
But I reached out anyway to Jeff on a site and we shared emails and phone calls for about a week before deciding to meet at a Gainesville restaurant. Only when the restaurant staff began cleaning up and preparing to close, did we realize that a few minutes of conversation and laughter somehow turned into 4 hours. We dated for a year and spent time traveling between Gainesville and Lake City before Jeff relocated to Gainesville and we moved into a rental house together.
We'd always would look forward to the next weekend adventure around the state or sunny beach trip. That winter, Jeff was offered an incredible opportunity while searching for jobs around North Florida. The only catch? This new opportunity completely coincidentally came from a Kansas City-based company.
After many hard conversations with friends and family, we decided the career move would serve not only Jeff's future well, but mine also. Once we made the journey to a suburb of Kansas City, Overland Park, things began to fall together almost too strangely for me when I applied for and accepted the first job I inquired about. And only a half mile from Jeff's new job!
What an eventful 2 years it's been!
