Hi friends and family! Wedding update! With a lot of thought, prayer and waiting, Matthew and I have decided that our wedding on 5/8/2020 at Coyote Hills Golf Course cannot take place as originally planned. While we still haven't heard anything officially from the venue, we feel that it is best to postpone all celebrating together.

In a time of such uncertainty, Matthew and I are certain that we want to start our lives together as husband and wife. We have chosen to have a backyard, immediate family-only wedding on 5/8. We'd love to still have some type of gathering in the future to celebrate with everyone, but we really don't know what that looks like. Thanks for your support and prayers during this time! We love you guys.

OUR STORY

Matthew and Cori were set up by Ashley and Tyler Reece and Andy and Kathleen Clark in July 2018. The Reece’s hosted a game night where only 6 people were in attendance—the Reece’s, Clark’s, Matthew and Cori. Going into the night, Cori knew they were being set up. She first noticed Matthew’s smile and that he could take a joke. While she was nervous, she was definitely interested. Matthew didn’t know he was being set up until the drive home, when Kathleen told him that, “Cori is single and loves Jesus.”

After that, Matthew got Cori’s number, called her up and asked her on a date. On their first date, Matthew and Cori found out they had both started going to the same church in Fullerton. The two gradually got to know each other over the next year, sitting next to each other at church, spending time with their families, and playing many more board games. Cori found out that Matthew loves chocolate milk, has vocal yawns, and can’t stand when things stick to his hands. Matthew found out that Cori loves long walks, Frosties from Wendy's, milk shakes, frozen yogurt (basically ice cream in all it's various forms), fresh doughnuts, Mrs. Doubtfire, and especially her dog Ruby.

Matthew surprised Cori and proposed in September 2019 while on a hike at the top of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Cori suggested multiple times that they cancel the hike because Matthew was fighting a cold. Matthew insisted that he was fine. He packed them a lunch with lots of fun treats (Squeeze It’s, Oreo dippers, lunchables...) and led them on a hike by a meadow. What Matthew didn't prepare for were the loud chainsaws running as workers were clearing trees around the meadow. He instead took Cori to a beautiful scenic outlook where he got down on one knee and proposed. Cori said yes!

Cori loves how Matthew cares for his friends and family. He is committed to God. He is a hard worker and wants to leave a job well done. Cori feels like she is able to share all the highs and lows of her life with Matthew. Matthew loves Cori's warmth and optimism. She loves the Lord, and makes him a priority in her life. She is fun and adventurous. Cori is a joy to be around and Matthew couldn't be more excited to share his life with her; through the fun times and hard times. They both desire to serve each other well, and reflect how Christ loves the church. They don’t know what the future holds, but are committed to facing it together, relying on God for their strength and support.
