After more than a year of dating, we wanted to plan a fall getaway. Little did Caitlin know, but Cory already had a plan in mind. We decided to see where one of our favorite comedians, Nate Bargatze, was going to be touring this fall and try to catch a show. As luck would have it, Nate was in San Diego the day after Caitlin was going to be there for a work conference. Trip booked!

On Friday night of the getaway, we went to the show. Nate was absolutely hysterical and beat our expectations (check him out on Netflix if you haven't heard of him!). The only other plans we scheduled for the weekend was dinner at the Hotel del Coronado. We had an early reservation to ensure Caitlin wouldn't get too hangry. We've been to many restaurants together, but this meal was one of the best we've ever had.

Through dinner, Caitlin kept a close eye on her watch, as she wanted to take photos on the beach at sunset. We walked down the beach to a less busy section, and Cory asked a woman nearby to take our photos. Or so Caitlin thought. He actually asked her to take a video and capture the moment he proposed! It was a complete surprise, and Caitlin immediately said yes (even though Cory swore it was a full minute... the video confirms that it was only a second or two!). We walked back to the hotel to have a celebratory glass of wine, only to realize we forgot our shoes on the beach! Luckily we were able to retrieve them and make our way back to cheers to our engagement.
