We met in the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/lorkas/">Laptop Orchestra of Arizona State</a>! We hung out with the rest of the orchestra at a local bar and Brent asked Courtney what she was in graduate school for. She said that she was going to be&nbsp;a doctor&nbsp;of&nbsp;music, and that she&nbsp;could cure all his musical ills. He said he had no rhythm and she said that obviously he just needed to learn to dance. And so it went!

How we met!

Courtney got rejected from the Golden Retriever Rescue organization since she had not had a dog yet&nbsp;as an adult. She was very sad, so they decided to look at dogs at the local SPCA. Just LOOK&nbsp;at them. But then they met Leto.&nbsp; A friendly&nbsp;yellow lab with a big wagging husky tail!&nbsp;Unfortunately, another couple had signed him out and had dibs on him to adopt. Oh no!!!&nbsp;Luckily, that couple made the worst decision of&nbsp;their entire lives!&nbsp;Courtney and Brent decided to snatch Leto up before someone else&nbsp;took him home and then all the sudden they had a dog!&nbsp;It has been awesome ever since!!!&nbsp;

About Argentine Tango

Courtney and Brent are &nbsp;Argentine tango dancers. Courtney began dancing because she fell in love with <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaXNdVTGT0k" target="_blank">Astor Piazzolla</a>, a tango composer, when she was learning the accordion. Then,&nbsp;she dragged Brent along with her for the ride, too! Brent had danced ballroom before, but soon turned into a tango (and post-contemporary modern) dancer!&nbsp;They will be dancing&nbsp; an Argentine tango for&nbsp;their first dance.

Guests are not expected to dance or learn tango! However, we highly recommend it!!









More about the dance:&nbsp; Argentine tango dance was born in the suburbs of&nbsp;Buenos Aires in the late 19th century.&nbsp;&nbsp;The dance&nbsp;is grounded in the relation between two moving bodies, leader and follower. Like other social dances, its focus is inward, emphasizing internal experience over presentation. In every moment, improvised interplay and nonverbal conversation determine movement quality, character and trajectory. Lacking a basic step set to a specified rhythm, the tango couple is free to improvise and determine the rhythmic phrasing and framing of their bodies in relation to the accompanying music.&nbsp;

What is Contra Dance? And why are you having it at your wedding?

We will have a&nbsp;contra dance lesson&nbsp;and contra dancing at our wedding party!&nbsp; 







We have always wanted social dance at our wedding but unsure how to make it happen since most of our close friends and family do not tango. However, we have attended various contra dance gatherings and we have always been impressed by:&nbsp; 1)&nbsp;How easy it is to learn!&nbsp;Yes, even if you have two left feet! 2) How little it matters if you make a mistake! 3) How much fun it is for everyone&nbsp;every time we have gone!









Therefore, we would like to share our love of dancing and music&nbsp;with everyone!
