Our Wedding

Courtney and Lukas met in medical school in Idaho. What started off as a friendship and a mutual love of watching hockey blossomed into the relationship they have today. Lukas forgives Courtney for being a Bruins fan, and Courtney wishes she had been an Avalanche fan all along.

Location: Crystal Creek Reservoir, 6 miles in on the Pikes Peak toll road You may be asking, “Why get married on Pikes Peak?” When Lukas first took Courtney to Colorado Springs, Courtney fell in love with the massive mountain overlooking the city- Pikes Peak. At a peak elevation of 14,115 feet, the mountain acts as a guardian of the Front Range. Lukas drove Courtney up Pikes Peak on that first trip to Colorado, and Courtney got to feel the “Rocky Mountain high” for the first time. Just over one year later, Lukas and Courtney went back to the summit of Pikes Peak, this time hiking the entire distance. After 13 miles, 7,000 feet of elevation gain, and about 9 hours of hiking, Courtney conquered her first fourtneener. Pikes Peak has always been a special mountain to Lukas; he has hiked to the summit four times. He also got to watch Courtney fall in love with the same mountain, and conquer it as her first big-mountain ascent. To Lukas and Courtney, the mountain represents beauty, lofty goals, and respect for things that are bigger than themselves. We hope you get the same feeling when you see the massive peak through your own eyes, and take a deep breath of that thin, cold, mountain air.

One last point- This wedding ceremony is occurring at high elevation (but less high than the original location) The ceremony is taking place just off the road that ascends to the top of Pikes Peak. The road up is a toll road, but don’t worry, we are covering the toll for you. Just place the placard we emailed you on your dashboard. We do recommend heading up the mountain before the ceremony so you can drive all the way to the summit and take in the views! There is a reservation system to reserve a time to drive up (this prevents any congestion along the road). It costs $2, but the placard covers the rest of the cost of admission. Secure your reservation at this site: https://coloradosprings.gov/drivepikespeak Dress code is semi-formal. Please be aware that this ceremony is taking place at around 7,000ft above sea level. Drink LOTS of water, and maybe consider a rain coat. Late July tends to be a beautiful (and hot) time of the year in Colorado, but it has been uncharacteristically rainy. At the high elevation, the weather can, quite literally, change from sunshine to monsoon in 10 minutes.

Our Reception will begin at 5pm at the Viewhouse in Colorado Springs: 7114 campus Dr, Colorado Springs, CO, 80920 There will be a cocktail hour from 5-6pm, and reception from 6-9pm.

Travel to Colorado Springs really has two options; fly directly to Colorado Springs, or fly to Denver and drive down to Colorado Springs. Be aware that driving from the Denver Airport to Colorado Springs takes around 1.5-2 hours. That being said, the whole state of Colorado is pretty car-dependent, so you will likely need to rent a car.

There are a lot of hotels in the Colorado Springs area, and nearly anything in the city is within a 30 minute drive. The closest hotels to the reception venue are the Embassy Suites by Hilton Colorado Springs, Best Western Plus Peak Vista Inn &amp; Suites, Holiday Inn Express &amp; Suites Colorado Springs, and Staybridge Suites Colorado Springs. All of the hotels are located on Commerce Center Drive.

Activities in Colorado Springs -Garden of the Gods is a beautiful, free park that is world-renowned for its uniquely-shaped red rocks. There are many hiking trails in the area, but you can take in the beauty of the park by driving through. -The Broadmoor Hotel is a 5-star resort hotel that has hosted famous characters such as Frank Sinatra and the President of the United States. Stop in for a drink at the bar, or grab a cup of coffee from the cafe and enjoy a calm stroll around the lake situated in the middle of the Broadmoor’s campus. -North Cheyenne Canyon is a hiking area that is close to Lukas’ heart. He used to run the trails in the canyon for endurance training when he was competing in figure skating. It is also a favorite place of his dog, Zile. There is over 100 miles of trails, all free to use. -Olympic Training Center is the training facility and home of many Team USA athletes, from swimming, to fencing, to figure skating. Stop in for a tour of the facility, often times done by one of the resident athletes. If you are still in the athletics mood after visiting, go to the US Olympic and Paralympic Museum. -Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is rated as one of the best Zoos in the United States, and even the World. Situated on the side of Cheyenne mountain, the zoo is also the highest elevation zoo in the world! As a zoo that focuses on rehabilitating animals and helping increase the population of endangered species, all admissions go toward animal conservation. You can also feed the giraffes, which is entertaining for people of all ages! There are also a phenomenal amount of bars and restaurants in Colorado Springs that can tickle the fancy of even the most picky eaters. Tejon Street in downtown Colorado Springs is a great place to start exploring all of the food and drink options in the city.
