May 2016, I reluctantly went out for a friends birthday party. I was in the middle of completing College and transitioning into University and well... life was busy to say the least! But I got ready and went out. A mutual friend posted a picture of us out, and Aj was curiously messaging her asking who I was. I agreed to exchange numbers and expected him to reach out and message me. To my surprise the next few days were crickets. NOTHING! So, I mustered up the courage to send him a message... we got to chatting and Aj asked me on a date. He had this elaborate date planned to go walk by the Oshawa Lake and asked if I wanted to go watch his hockey game after. I immediately thought to my self, there is NO WAY i'm committing to an entire day first date... what if I don't even like this guy?! then I'm awkwardly stuck with him all evening!! Confused, Aj agreed to just walk by the lake and grab some ice cream. At the time, Aj had a broken foot so I had to pick him up in my dad's Honda Civic. (this should have been a red flag for my future with him and this damn leg!!) I had absolutely no intention of seeing him again after this date, what guy asks a girl to pick him up on a first date!! I'll be the first to set the record straight, after that first date I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. Something that may surprise you is that I chased him. It's a running joke that I've been dating Aj longer than he's been dating me . A couple months had passed and sure enough, Aj finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Eight years, one home and two beautiful babies later, we are ready to tie the knot!! While writing our story, and looking back over our past years I got to thinking... if our life had a motto it would be: if you're going to do anything in life, do it backwards - and nothing would make me happier than doing life backwards with you! Let's do the damn thing!
