What should I wear?
Our wedding is on a Sunday, so rock your Sunday Best (suits, tuxedos, mess dress, formal cocktail dresses, or gowns). Be dressed to the nines if you want to impress the groom.
What type of weather should I plan for?
Ah Pittsburgh. Known for it's tropical temperatures and nonstop sunshine. Kidding - if you've ever been to the Steel City, you know that "planning" for weather in Pittsburgh is a nearly impossible task. As two lifelong yinzers, we can predict that the weather will likely still be in the 60s or 70s during the day and get slightly cooler at night. The good news? Both the ceremony and reception are entirely indoors. Rain or shine, it will be fine!
Where are the ceremony and reception?
The matrimony mass is at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Millvale at 1:00 p.m. Before the ceremony (or during the ceremony, we won't judge), take a peek at the murals on the church's interior walls, painted by Croatian artist Makso Vanka in the 1930s and 40s. With angels in gas masks, soldiers hoisting bayonets, and depictions of various funeral scenes, these aren't your typical church murals (or wedding decor, for that matter!).
The reception is at the Mansions on Fifth in Shadyside, approximately 15 minutes from St. Nicholas Catholic Church, at 4:00 p.m. This historic mansion was built in 1907 by Willis McCook, a prominent businessman and lawyer for Henry Clay Frick.
What happens after the ceremony?
The newlyweds will be taking photos together and with their families until the reception begins at 4:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to spend that time as they choose. Whether that be spending more time with the murals, watching Kenny Pickett torch the Jets' defense, taking a power nap in honor of the groom or exploring the Steel City, it's totally up to you.
For some ideas of things to do, check out our "Things to Do" page!
What do I do if I can't make it?
You're dead to us. Just kidding - we'll miss you lots, but totally understand that life happens! If you can not make it to the wedding, please let us know as soon as possible and RSVP “no,” so we can plan accordingly.
What time should I arrive?
We would recommend arriving about 30 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony to make sure everyone is on time and we can get the party started as scheduled. Plus, that means more time to check out the murals (don't know what we're talking about? See above description of the ceremony and reception venues!).
Where should guests park? Is parking free?
Leave your parking chairs at home, folks. A free parking lot is available at St. Nicholas Church, and free valet parking will be available at the Mansions on Fifth.
Are kids welcome?
While we love your little ones, our ceremony and reception are going to be adults-only events so that everyone can relax and enjoy the evening. We appreciate you making arrangements ahead of time and leaving the kids at home so you can celebrate with us.
Do you have a hotel block for guests? Where do you recommend I stay?
We chose not to have a hotel block because there was no one place that we felt fit the majority of our guests' needs. Our top recommendations can be found in the "Travel Section" of our website.
Several family members are staying right at the reception venue and the bride and groom are staying at the Oaklander Hotel to be near the after party.
Is there an afterparty?
The official after party will be at Spirits & Tales on the rooftop of the Oaklander Hotel after the reception wraps up around 9pm.
Word is, the bride and groom will be transiting to Oakland via the 71D bus.
Will there be an after-after party at Gene's Place? Only Julian Ferrante can speculate.
Will transportation be provided to/from the venues?
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide transportation, but Shadyside and Oakland are lively areas, and transit (Ubers, Lyfts) is readily available and extremely accessible. Better yet, make a new friend and carpool!
Where do I RSVP? When do I need to?
You can RSVP right here on our website! And, please RSVP by September 1. Otherwise, we will go full Liam Neeson and find you. But, since you're already here on our website, why not do it now!
What kind of food will you have?
Liver and onions. Bologna. Beets.
Please tell me you're joking.
Yes - if you're invited to our wedding, that means we love you and wouldn't serve you anything gross (no offense to those who like liver and onions, bologna, or beets). We don't want to give anything away but...definitely come hungry. Between tasty hors d'oeuvres and two buffet-style meal stations, this is not your typical wedding food. And of course, save room for cake and the best Pittsburgh Cookie Table there ever was.
What about drinks?
Drinks are on us!
What's the best way to contact you if I have additional questions?
Wondering if you can bring your pet ocelot? Need to know our opinions on whether or not milk and cereal is just...soup? Please direct these and other very important questions to us via call or text at 724-256-1971.
Will there be any music other than Taylor Swift played at the reception?
We can't make those kinds of promises.
